Apple's 2017 Offering - iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X

Apple have recently officially unveiled this year's efforts; the long-awaited iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. With various new features, we compare the differences between them.

First of all, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are essentially the continuation of the iPhone range you already know and love. Similar in aesthetic to the previous models, it's more of an internal upgrade to the range than anything drastic. The iPhone X is something else entirely.

Sporting a 5.8 Inch display, Apple  have adopted the bezel-less LCD with no home button, perhaps to follow the success that Samsung has had with this in their S8 range. This seems to be the first major deviation from the proven formula from Apple for a long time, and is hopefully a sign of things to come. The camera also now sits vertically on the rear of the device, instead of horizontally as seen in many previous models including the iPhone 8 Plus.

The iPhone 8 & 8 Plus also bring a few new features to the fore including a glass back, which enables a long awaited foray Wireless charging and increased water and dust resistance (IP67). The iPhone 8 has a 12MP camera, while the 8 Plus boasts a dual camera setup, similar to the iPhone X. These features are also included on the iPhone X, and more. Featuring Apple's first usage of a Super AMOLED LCD, meaning more vivid colours and a higher pixel count (~458 ppi) compared to the 8 and 8 Plus (~326 & ~401 ppi respectively). The iPhone X has also ditched fingerprint recognition in favour of 'Face ID', a facial recognition that is said to be even faster than traditional unlocking methods.

Apple have also recently unveiled iOS 11, the latest operating system for their handheld devices. Including new features such as an Improved Lock, Notification and Control Centre screens, Do Not Disturb While Driving, A new dedicated 'Files' app, Screenshot editing, Animated GIFS and improvements to Apple pay, there really is a lot of improvements to the previous versions.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are expected to be released around late-September, with the iPhone X likely to follow in Late October - Early November. It is rumoured that the iPhone X will be in very limited supply due to the AMOLED screens being in short supply, so make sure you order quick to ensure you get one!

The iPhone X is sure to be a hit with Apple aficionados, albeit starting at the eye-watering price of £999 for the 64GB version. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus price points are not too far behind starting at £699 and £799, respectively.

The full range will be available on our website very soon, so keep a look out for any updates!
