When you are looking to purchase a second-hand phone, it’s important to consider the phone grades to ensure you receive the exact quality of device to suit your needs.
Our used phone grades differ in terms of the visible quality of the device, however, all of our refurbished grades will work exactly the same. Our grading system works by looking at visual differences between phones, like scratches, dents or cracks, allowing us to provide each of our used phones grades to help the buyer make an informed decision.
Our grade system also allows us to provide a price that matches the device – so you won’t be paying over the odds for a refurbished phone that has visible marks of wear.

Our used phone grading system
Finding a phone that matches your budget couldn’t be easier with 4gadgets, as each of our refurbished grades is available at a different price point. Need something very affordable? Selecting ‘Fair’ products in our grade system might be the solution.
We have four different grades at 4gadgets: Pristine, Excellent, Good and Fair.
No matter which phone grade you choose, all of our devices go through a vigorous 90-point plan whereby we run various checks to ensure your new purchase is in top condition and is acceptable to be sold as refurbished tech. This includes reviewing things like the screen, buttons, the microphone, and the software on the phone. The condition of the battery is also unaffected no matter which grade you choose.

Pristine Condition
Pristine’ devices are considered as good as new and are as close as you can get to a new phone with a second-hand product.
As part of this refurbished grade, the phone will look near perfect and if the device has any imperfections they will be near minor. Our grade system ensures that the screen is unmarked when the device is listed as Pristine.
Pristine phone grades are ideal for buyers who would like to save money by purchasing refurbished technology, but maintain the highest possible quality in their handset.
Like all of the grades mentioned in our grade guide, the phone is fully tested and in full working order – and will be using the latest operating system. Please refer to the image for further details.
Excellent Condition
‘Excellent’ devices are as the name may suggest, in excellent condition. There may be some very minor cosmetic signs of use, including small scratches to the screen or casing.
Devices under this refurbished grade are ideal for buyers who would like to feel safe in the knowledge that their phone looks great, regardless of whether they use a case to cover up any minor imperfections.

Good Condition
Phones in ‘Good’ condition will have minimal cosmetic issues, but will have signs of wear and tear on the casing and the rear of the device. It is likely that a previous owner may have used a screen protector but not a case.
Devices under the ‘Good’ used phone grade are ideal for users who appreciate a good, clean screen and won’t mind placing the device in a protective case.

Fair Condition
Devices in ‘Fair’ Condition have some minor signs of wear and tear on the screen and casing and the previous owner likely didn’t use a case or a screen protector.
These devices are ideal for those who aren’t bothered about how their phone looks but are interested in how the device operates, and also care about saving as much money as possible on a second hand phone.
