The Samsung Galaxy S8 Spotlight

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Spotlight

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has finally been unveiled after months of speculation and there is lots to discuss about the new handset and its fantastic new features which will be available to purchase 28th April. With the new release, check out our range of affordable Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge for a top smartphone with a low price.

Infinity Display

According to Samsung ‘Nobody wants bezels’ and looking at the S8 it’s hard to disagree with them. The phone is 80% display with its receded bezels and curved edges wrapping around the handset. It is easy to use with one hand, svelte and stylish and will be released in two colours – Midnight Black and Orchid Grey.

Home Button

Leaked photos had everyone guessing the home button had been thrown on the cutting room floor, but instead the home buttons, and menu and return keys, are incorporated into the display, keeping a sleek design. The fingerprint scanner is now the secondary choice for recognition and is next to the camera lens on the back of the screen.

Iris Scanner and facial recognition

No two irises have the same pattern, not even your own, so what could be more secure than unlocking your device with your one of a kind eye? With the S8 there’s no need for pin codes or placing your finger on the home button, you can simply look at your phone to open it and with facial recognition it’s even quicker for you to make payments.

Bixby

Arguably the most impressive new feature is the voice assistant ‘Bixby’ which promises to change the way we interact with smartphones. It’s a personal assistant that understands talk, text and taps and has its very own button at the side of the handset. Searching is going to change to as you won’t even need to ask, you can simply point your camera at an item and get the low down from Bixby, for example if you point the camera at a bottle of wine, Bixby will find reviews of it.

Wireless Charger Stand

One of the best accessories from the S7 was the wireless charger, but for the S8 it’s had a nice makeover with a black design and pop-up stand to allow your device to sit at the right angle to still use while it charges.
