iPhone 7: News, Release and Rumours:

With the iPhone 7 coming this year, we are all anticipating bigger and better things. With rumours and predictions flying through the roof we've picked up lots of hints about new features that could appear in the iPhone 7 including; The removal of 3.5mm headphone jack, wireless charging, touchscreen with built-in Touch ID, plus news on Apple producing an 'unhackable' iPhone, after its run-in with the FBI.

With the release of the iPhone 6S, Apple delivered its best handset yet. However apart from some general refinements and some impressive new 3D Touch technology, it was very similar to the iPhone 6. This isn’t a surprise as Apple typically only redesigns its handsets once every two years, meaning the redesign is due for the iPhone 7. So with that we're expecting a whole new handset which is typically set to be; faster, lighter and packed with new features.

If Apple sticks to their previous release date schedule, we should aim to see the iPhone 7 September 2016. The rumour of Apple pushing its release date forward to summer 2016 does seem unlikely, but talks of a possible update of the 4-inch iPhone line could come earlier than the autumn 2016.

The iPhone 7 is more than likely to undergo a complete new physical design as its previous releases were pretty much identical. To predict which angle Apple will go with is near impossible at this time, but it’s likely to be thinner than ever. To achieve this there are rumours of apple removing the headphone jack completely, forcing music fans to either use Bluetooth headphones, or headphones that connect via lightning port.

The increase of battery life in the new handsets are probable, however it is possible Apple won’t consider a higher battery life to be worth significant sacrifices in other areas. With that Apple have also recently released an exterior ‘smart battery pack’ case for 6/6s models. This case is expected to be reintroduced with the iPhone 7 to counteract the opposing questions regarding the newer models battery life. In Terms of storage we hope to see the era of 16GB handsets come to an end, as in this day and age it’s nowhere near enough storage to last or do much with.

And for all of those other more out-there rumours, here are our verdicts at 4gadgets on what to expect:

3D screen: no.
Curved display: probably not.
Flexible display: no.
Edge-to-edge screen: yes, quite possibly.
Spring-out gaming joystick in the Home button: definitely not.
Wireless charging: quite possibly.
Better waterproofing: a realistic bet.
